Brandon & Lisa are one of the sweetest couples ever! I have known Brandon's parents for quite a while now as they are teachers{back when I was in school and my son just has his mom for Kindergarten 2 years ago)! We had soooo much fun during their engagement session this past Saturday. We started in the studio...went to the cornfield...went to someones house and asked if we could use their red barn...went to Krape Park and ended downtown Freeport{yes, that was a lot-but we were having so much fun}!!! I can't wait for their wedding next year:)

I had the pleasure of being a part of Amber & Josh's special day this past Saturday. They are such a sweet couple, filled with lots of LOVE! She had the most beautiful wedding dress ever, along with the flower girl{she looked like a princess}! We stopped at Apple Canyon for some outdoor pictures on the way to the reception, it was looking a little dark on the way-but thankfully the rain held off for us! And I have to say the wedding party ROCKED!! You guys were awesome and knew how to party! Here are a few favorites from their day.

So, it has been a while since I have updated the blog yet again!! A lot has gone on since the last time I updated....so I will try to give you a brief update! Our Little Firecrackers Mini Sessions went very well, we had many cute little ones in, along with a very cute puppy!! Stay tuned for our next Children's Mini Sessions coming up soon!! We were out at the Stephenson County Fair again this year, and besides being at my booth, I was also the fair photographer. It was a lot of fun capturing all the events that went on out there! Thanks to everyone who stopped out to see me! So, besides that, we have had many wonderful sessions in the studio! Keep checking back as I will be adding lots of pictures to the blog!!

Vegas...here I come!!

Just a reminder: I will be out of town from Friday March 5th through Friday March 12th. I am heading to the annual WPPI Photography Convention in VEGAS!! Little miss Ava does!! I LOVE doing these birthday cake sessions-they are so much fun. Watching them dig in and enjoy the frosting(thats my fave part of the cake too!!). I would have to say she was the best cake eater I have had yet. She dug right into it as soon as mom put the cake down in front of her! Happy Birthday Ava!!!

Wow-just realized it has been forever since I have updated this blog!!! It has been a very busy past few months with fall weddings-Christmas pictures and we moved into town(Pearl City) during all of that! I hope everyone out there had a wonderful Christmas and was able to spend quality time with the family!

As the new year rolls in, a few changes will be made with the studio.

The studio has been relocated! I will miss being in my old location-but it’s a good change for me! I am now located at 410 South Main Street(still in Pearl City) right across the road from the Methodist Church. I am now strictly available by appointment only as the studio is in my home. If you need to get in touch with me you can call me at the studio number-815.443.9074 or email me at tamararoach@hotmail.com.
Beginning January 1st, 2010, I will no longer be doing online proofing. All proof viewing will be done at the studio within 2 weeks of your session. A proof viewing appointment will be set up at the time of your session. One bonus to this is that all orders placed at this initial appointment will receive a 10% discount!!

More children’s specials will also be available this year. My goal is to eventually have them monthly-but I will probably start every other month or so to begin with. These sessions will involve some type of “theme”. So-if anyone out there has any neat ideas or something you would like to see-please let me know-I want your opinions too!! Also-if you want to be on the mailing list for these specials-please send an email to me letting me know-include your name-address-phone and email address.

A beautiful outdoor wedding

I LOVE outdoor weddings-except that the weather sometimes doesn't cooperate! Saturday was not looking good for an outdoor wedding-but the rain magically went away just in time to start pictures. It was a little chilly-but we all survived! Zach & Jamie were such a sweet couple to work with and the view we had for pictures and the ceremony was amazing! The wedding took place at the top of a hill just outside of Stockton. They had wagon rides to take the guests up the hill-how fun!! Congratulations guys-I am so glad I was a part of you special day!!

Sneak Peak: James & Nicole

This fun couple was in last weekend for their engagement session....and they couldn't forget their furry little friend-who did not enjoy the car ride to the studio!! Another beautiful wedding! Keith & Stephanie were married at St. Johns Luthern church in Pearl City and then headed off towards Galena to their reception at Chestnut Moutain-with a stop on the way for pictures on the Galena streets. These two have been together for a long time-so I just have to say "It's about time"!!! Just kidding-you guys are a super sweet couple and I had a LOT of fun! Wisconsin Dells was the setting for this Memorial Day weekend wedding. The wedding took place in Reedsburg and the reception was at the Chula Vista Resort in the Dells-awesome place to stay if you have a chance! We had beautiful weather along with a beautiful couple!! We went to the River Walk after the wedding to do some outdoor pictures-the wedding party was having fun with all the "travelers of the river walk" and I think most of them had fun watching too! I hope you guys had a lovely wedding-you are a sweet couple and I had a lot of fun with you!!

I had the pleasure of meeting this cute little guy the other day-he was in for his 1 year pictures. All I did was talk to him and his face lit up-he had to be the most smiley 1 year old I've ever had! We started with some pictures in clothes mommy brought-then we did the famous "Birthday Cake" session. Another Print Competition

Yesterday I attended my monthly PPANI meeting in Batavia, IL. The speakers we had were great and I learned a few new things I am planning on incorporating into the studio. Once the speakers were finished we had a print competition. I have entered a couple before and my highest scores were 75, 76 & 78(which received honorable mention ribbons). But yesterday, I received an 81-and received a merit ribbon!! Yeah-my first!! I am going to fix a couple things on it with their suggestions-and eventually send it to the state level. I think I can officially call myself an "Award Winning Photographer"!! Here is the print I entered-isn't she such a doll!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie this past weekend-I have known Dawn for a while now-I just never had a chance to meet the other half! I have taken pictures for Dawns family before(her grandmas wedding and a cousins wedding when I was first starting out)-so it will be great to see them again at the wedding. This little sweetie was so cute!! Only about 2 weeks old-still in that squished up stage-which I love! She was a little fussy and not very fond of this picture taking thing-but we managed to get a few keepers!! Poor mom though-I forgot to warn her she may get a little "dirty" during the session-yep-she was peed and pooped on(a couple times if I remember right)!! Oh well, it was worth it for these sweet pictures, right??

There was a contest with one of the gallery wrap companies I use to help decorate their tradeshow booth at the convention. All you had to do is send in your picture and they would choose the ones they wanted to use for their display. Well, mine was chosen out of hundreds of entries that were submitted(only 11 were chosen)!! I was very surprised when I got the email! Here is a picture of me with my winning entry at their booth. I get to keep the canvas wrap too-so look for it soon at the studio!

Home from Vegas

Hey everyone!! I am back and finally caught up on sleep-I think! It was an awesome trip, but very tireding. The first few days it was me and my husband, along with Liz and her husband. We did a lot of walking around looking at the different hotels, eating out, getting lost going to a mall, and loosing a bunch of money gambeling!! The guys left on Monday and it was just me & Liz for the WPPI convention the rest of the week. I saw many different speakers throughout the week and have learned a lot of new stuff that you will be seeing very soon! I even attended a couple different parties while out there, along with getting to see Blues Traveler in a special WPPI concert event. I met some online photography friends I have known for several years-but never met face to face-so that was cool-I also ran into two people I knew from my PPANI association. I will leave you with some of my favorite shots from the week.

This will be my first trip to Vegas-and my first time on an airplane(kind of nervous about that)!! I will be out of town from Friday, February 13th-Friday, February 20th-I'll be back in the studio on Monday the 23rd. I am going out for a mixture of fun and a big photography convention-WPPI's annual photography convention. I can't wait to see all the new products and take home some new ideas to bring to the studio-watch for many changes when I get back!

I will not be checking email or phone messages while I am gone-so if you need something just leave a message and I will start returning messages on Monday, February 23rd.

And...I am taking my camera(of course I can't put that down for a week!) so watch for pictures when I return.

New Finish on your Portraits

Has everyone noticed the new finish on your portraits? I have switched to a beautiful Linen finish on all of my prints now. So far everyone seems to love it! It gives your portraits a more high end look to them(which is the look I am going for in my business) vs. a print you can get printed anywhere. Another fun option available is a metallic finish-it is hard to describe in words-so you have to see it in person to know what I mean. This finish is available as an add-on, so it will cost a little bit more, but it is worth it.

The wedding was in Stockton and the reception was at the Best Western in Dubuque-that was the first time I had been there and the place was amazing. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I did-although I was sick most of last week with a sinus infection and strep throat-the meds kicked in just in time for me to enjoy my turkey dinners! If you are waiting on proofs-please be patient-I should be caught up by the end of the week/beginning of next week.

I just wanted to let everyone know there is still time to get pictures in for Christmas. Orders placed through Sunday, December 14th will be guaranteed Christmas delivery. After that, there is no guarantee. Rush orders/overnight delivery is available at an additional charge if needed.

October Wedding

This wedding took place in Elizabeth with the reception in Galena. We stopped at the tower outside of Elizabeth and Grants Home on the way to the reception for some outdoor pictures. I love the wedding party shot we got out there. I asked each couple to do "something different" and they all did-very unique!! Congratulations to both of you!

Hey everyone!! Sorry I have neglected the blog for a while-it's been a little busy around here. I ended up cancelling the summer contest because I only had 2 entries(sorry to those who entered)-so we will try for a fall contest in a couple of weeks-so stay tuned for that.

A few months ago, I finally joined the PPANI(the Professional Photographers Association of Northern Illinois) and I have learned a lot since joining. At our meeting yesterday they had a print competition. I entered 2 prints and received an Honerable Mention on one of them-yeah-my first ribbon!!!

I will leave you with a picture of my winning print and a picture of Elizabeth and me out at the fair. Thanks to all those who stopped out and said Hi!!

I see it's been a while since my last blog contest-so we are going to do a summer fun contest. Email me a picture of what summer means to you(playing outside-at the beach-at the park-at the zoo, etc.). Be creative in your entries!! Seniors are so much fun to work with and it makes it even more fun when there are two of them! I started this session with a terrible migraine-but by the end of the session it was gone. Sessions can take place at my studio-at a location of your choice-or both. My session fee includes unlimited outfit changes(as many as we can fit in during your 2 hour session), and you are able to bring in any props you would like(pets, sports stuff, your car, your hobbies, etc.).

I also just recently added a "Best Friends" session. For $25, you and up to 3 of your friends can have your pictures taken together as an add-on to your session and you will each receive a 5x7 portrait. This little sweetie just came in this past week for her 2 year old pictures. Mom brought a few different outfits in to document this stage in her life. We started with her swimming suit-which is just darling by the way-and she brought along her giant beach ball and a few sand buckets. Then we set up the flag background-since she will turn 2 right around the 4th of July. She was getting a little tired by this point-but we managed to get some good shots before she was totally done! I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding this past weekend for another photographer in Rockford-Better Image Photography. The wedding was an outdoor ceremony and reception in Stillman Valley. Not long before the ceremony was supposed to start, a big storm was heading our way. Luckily we just got the rain and not a lot of wind or lightning! The ceremony started a bit later than planned and it was a little wet out there-but that didn't bring down their spirits!!

What a great day for a wedding-we had a nice blue sky along with a great looking couple! They were married at St. Mary's in Durand-the church was beautiful. They were a traditional couple and did not wish to see each other before the ceremony-so we did as much as we could before the ceremony and finished up immediately following the ceremony so they had plenty of time to hang out with their friends before the reception started.

I don't think I have shared new pictures of Noah & Madison for a while-so here are a few from their most recent session. Aren't they getting so big!! I really wish Madison was looking at the camera in this one-I may have to do some photoshop eye surgery to fix it!!!

I can't believe I got a good picture of her on her belly-I don't think I've gotten one like that since she was about 5 months old!

I had this family in on Saturday. The little guy was such a ham-as you can tell from the picture of him and his mommy! The little girl though-she wanted nothing to do with pictures!! We even had a hard time getting her to just stand there for the feet shot! Oh well, they still turned out cute-and even though they are not really smiling-the one of the kids together is so precious-I love his hand on her face.

A Change in Studio Hours

I will still be in the studio working 3-4 days a week, but the days may change week to week-therefore I don't want to give you set hours to rely on. I had William in the studio when he was 2-3 weeks old for his newborn session. He was just recently back for some more pictures and he is now around 8 months old-my how he has grown!! He had lots of energy the day of his session and didn't really want anything to do with picture taking-but we got a few good shots of him! I'm Back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's. My Christmas day started out pretty rough, we were leaving to head to my mom's house for Christmas breakfast and I slipped on the ice going down the steps-I didn't break anything but I think I sprained my left ankle. I couldn't walk on my foot for a couple of days, but then it got better-although it is bothering me agian now! Besides that little incident we had a wonderful holiday!

So, now that I have been off for the last 2 weeks to spend time with the family, I am back to work. I will be returning emails and phone calls in the next few days, but if you don't hear back from me by Monday you might want to give me a call or email again to make sure I got your original message.

New and exciting changes are coming for the new year. I will be posting details soon here on the blog-so make sure to check back!

Greeting cards ordered by December 7th will be in around December 14th.
Portraits ordered by December 12th will be in around December 21st.
Canvas prints ordered by December 3rd will be in around December 21st.

All orders placed after December 12th will not be guaranteed for Christmas delivery, unless a rush order is placed*. Orders placed after December 12th may take 3-4 weeks for delivery due to the holidays.

Future Chiefs fan?

Well dad is a huge fan, so this little guy is too! Rayce is turning one in a couple of weeks, so we did a birthday cake session. We started out in the Chiefs outfit and worked our way to the cake. I think he had a lot of fun with the cake-although he needed a little help from mom digging into it to start with.

We walked around the park a little and then ended up at Flagstaff-one of my favorite areas of the park. I asked if they wanted to go swing-and they didn't really answer me-so I decided for them!! Meet Ryan and Lisa. We started out their engagement session at the studio and used my "sweet apple" background-doesn't it look yummy!!! We then went out to Krape Park for a few casual shots. We got talking about how we like this time of the year with all the fall colors, so I was happy to have found a shaded area with leaves-the session ended with them throwing leaves at each other! They were such a fun couple to be around and I can't wait for their wedding next May!

Maternity Session

Your pregnancy is a special time in your life. Documenting that stage in your life through photographs will provide you with wonderful memories that will last forever. Amy and Kevin came to me wanting to do just that. She brought a couple of outifts of her own she wanted to use, along with a pair of baby booties...how cute!! Then we used a large piece of fabric and draped it around her to show off her growing belly.

Yes, I am a little behind on posting from this summers weddings, but better late than never! Meet Tara & Dan. These two were such a cute couple! I can't believe how fast these past few years have gone. Noah just recently celebrated his 4th birthday, with a Spiderman party-Spiderman seems to be his favorite right now. The New Studio

Ok, it has been a while since I have updated this blog, it's been a pretty busy summer(I am actually kind of glad that it's over with-I am ready for the fall)!! First of all, I want to thank everyone who stopped into the studio during my Open House back in July, I enjoyed seeing everyone. Congratulations to Jennifer VanHorn, Grand Prize winner of the Door Prize Drawing, who won a $200 studio credit! There were several other prize winners, which included $50 studio credits and free studio sessions. Congratulations to all of those winners too! For those that were not able to make it out that day, stop by sometime to check it out. Here are some pictures of the new, remodeled studio.

Rainy Day Wedding

My first wedding in June started off not looking too good, weather wise anyways. It was in Dubuque, IA and I drove into some pretty nasty storms on my way there-there were even tornado warnings out for the area! We were supposed to do pictures outdoors at the Dubuque Golf and Country Club, but since we had the rain we did them inside at the Grand River Center(where the wedding was taking place). Fortunately though, we had a break in the rain and we were able to sneak in a few outside at the Grand River Center. The dark sky made for some moody shots, which are some of my favorite pictures ever. Meet Lindsay & Zack-they were such a fun couple and were very much into each other.

It's fun.....it's messy.....it's birthday cake!! Announcing a new session available from Tamara Roach Photography. I have been doing these fun sessions with my graduating baby planners and now I am offering them as a session for any one year old. We start with regular portraits of your little one and end with cake and balloons. The session is $55 and includes the cake and balloons in your choice of colors. This is a fun way to document your baby turning one. The pictures make wonderful birthday invitations, thank you cards and collages. This is my most recent baby planner, Madalyn, who just turned one. She had loads of fun with this and had no problem digging into that cake!
